Asheville Outdoor Center now offers Gem Mining right here in Asheville, NC; along the banks of the historic French Broad River, near the famed and fabled Biltmore House.
Grab a bucket, get a sluicing box ,sit down and discover some real gemstone, rubies, sapphires, and fossils. Gem Mining is a fun relaxing activity suitable for all ages, searching for hidden treasures brings out the smiles in everyone. That's right you get to keep what ever you find (all buckets guaranteed to contain real gemstones, minerals, and fossils).
We provide all equipment and mining gear for a fun filled activity for young and old alike. Come sit beside our authentic 8' waterwheel, complete with water tower, mining sluice, old time wagon, and authentic Teepee.

How it works... Come on out and get down to the river @ 521 Amboy Road Asheville, NC .Say hello to one of our friendly staff, pick out a bucket, you can choose from Minerals, Precious Stones, and a Fossils bucket. Take your bucket and your mining screen down to the mining trough pour a little in your screen let the moving water carry away the dirt to reveal what you have found. Every bucket guaranteed. Gem Mining requires no experience, is fun to do and you may even enjoy gettin' a little dirty.
Gem Mining prices for 2010
Price includes: Mining bucket, complimentary identification card, complimentary treasure bag (to put all of your stones in) and all necessary equipment for a fun filled special day of mining for real stones, fossils, and minerals. Price does not include NC sales tax.
Small Buckets, Gems only : $ 10.00
Medium Bucket, Gems & Minerals: $ 12.00
Large Bucket, Fossils only: $ 15.00
